Anne Frank House
One of the most famous legacy of the Second World War in the Netherlands is the Anne Frank House. Anne Frank was a Jewish girl, living in Amsterdam, who was in hiding with her parents and sister in the Secret Annex during Nazi occupation. Here she wrote her diaries with which she became known worldwide. Two years later, in August 1944, the Frank family was betrayed and deported to Auschwitz concentration camp. The Anne Frank House is now a museum where you can see with your own eyes how the family there has survived until they were arrested by the Gestapo.
Concentration camps NL
If you also have a large interest for history, especially the WWII and you live in The Netherlands or you ever come here for a holiday, I have a few recommendations for places you can visit. During the WWII there were five concentration camps in the Netherlands. Nowadays three of them have a beautiful memorial and museum. Westerbork, Vught and Amersfoort. These former concentration camps are really worth to spend some time.
Militaria show
Several times a year there is a fair in Houten, a town in the province Utrecht in the Netherlands, where many militaria are offered and exhibited. It is a pleasant meeting place for those interested in military history. Among the visitors are almost all museums from the Netherlands and the surrounding countries. If you are interested, keep an eye on the website for the dates.
